The Business Idea
Luke Watts and Matt Riffat approached NBV in late 2016 for support in setting up a new managed IT services business. Although both Luke and Matt have a total 15 years’ experience of using business IT systems as employees, neither had the experience of how to set up their own business.
They were introduced to their NBV adviser David Hallam, who has provided tailored business support.
The Challenges
David identified that Luke and Matt would benefit from the Start & Grow Programme. This would give them business skills training with the Starting in Business course, and then regular focused business mentoring from David, and access to networking to help establish and steadily grow their new IT services start-up.
The mentoring support has especially helped with growing the business.

Programme Impact
Roundworks IT is now trading as a managed IT services business, with registered offices at the NBV Enterprise Centre. Both Luke and Matt are employed in full time roles. They plan to always remain at the forefront of the business whilst helping it to grow further.
With the business growing fast they plan to recruit many support engineers and are interested in offering apprenticeships as a way of recruiting, teaching them from the ground up.
Future plans include securing suitable local office space to enable staff recruitment and expansion as the business grows.
