Jackie Cunningham is the founder of Advanced Textile Solutions, a Nottingham-based business that provides specialised textile accessories for various industries. With a growing customer base that includes companies like Cerca Magnetics, Sign Solutions, and Skin Solace, Jackie has been crafting bespoke textile products tailored to the unique needs of her clients. From cap inserts for groundbreaking brain scanning helmets to saddle pads for racehorses, Advanced Textile Solutions is making a mark in diverse sectors.

Operating for two years, Jackie is focused on growing her business and increasing her customer base by the end of 2024. To support this growth, Jackie worked with NBV business adviser, David Hallam, to help improve her production capabilities. Specifically, she needed a new sewing machine to increase productivity and take on more complex projects for which David helped her gain a small business grant.

With the grant, Jackie was able to purchase a Janome Atelier 6 sewing machine. This investment has already started making a significant impact on her operations. The new machine not only speeds up production but also allows Jackie to work with more challenging fabrics, like neoprene, which is crucial for her ongoing collaborations with Cerca Magnetics. The added versatility of the new machine opens up opportunities for Jackie to expand her product range and better meet her customers’ needs.

Looking ahead, Jackie has exciting plans for Advanced Textile Solutions. She has launched a new website, which will make it easier for potential clients to discover her services. Moreover, if the medical approval for Cerca Magnetics’ brain scanning helmets is granted, Jackie anticipates rapid growth for her business. This expansion could position Advanced Textile Solutions as a key player in the intersection of textiles and technology.
