How to access external funding for your business

A common query that NBV hear is “How do I raise additional funding for growth in my business?”

We’ve put together two free half-day workshops to help answer that query, led by NBV Business Advisers John Owens and Chris Gueffier.

Session 1: “How to Access Grant Funding for your Business”

Date: Tuesday February 15th @ 9:30 am – 1:00pm Venue: Online, delivered via Zoom led by John Owens

Grants can be an important source of investment income for businesses and this webinar provides attendees with an understanding of the overall process of grant writing and will cover tips and tools to find and write competitive grant applications. 

Attending this workshop, you will understand the following:

  • What grant awarding bodies are looking for, and “what’s in it for them?”
  • Grant proposal, the process and what information is required
  • The different components of a grant proposal
  • How to write a successful grant application 

Follow on 1-2-1 sessions with the presenters or other NBV Business Advisers will be available after the event for a more in-depth discussion on your requirements and any further support needed.

Session 2: “How to Access the Government backed Start Up Loans and other Funding Sources for your Business”

Date: Tuesday February 22nd @ 9:30 am – 11.30am

Venue: Online, delivered via Zoom led by Chris Gueffier

There are a broad range of business loans and other funding sources available, ranging in value from a few hundred pounds to several hundred thousand – or even more for suitable firms. 

Attending this workshop, you will understand the following:

  • What loans or other type of finance may be available to you at the prestart -early stage of business development 
  • What documentation and plans do funding providers require when providing funding. 
  • The different components of a loan proposal
  • How to put forward a Start Up Loan application that has a good chance of success

Speakers:

John Owens B.A (Hons.), Dip.UD, MBA, FIOEE

John has worked in business support since 1997, (within Business Link Lincolnshire & Rutland and his own firm) and has worked with NBV Enterprise Solutions for the last five years. He’s worked with many firms, helping them to gain real strategic and operational business benefits. 

He has also set up and run several business grant schemes, as well as helping clients access and put together great proposals for already-existing schemes – he understands the “ins and out” of grants as well as the pitfalls businesses often fall into.

John holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Open University and is a Fellow of the Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurs.

Chris Gueffier

An experienced Business Adviser, Chris has worked for NBV Enterprise Solutions for over 5 years helping many businesses develop robust business plans for investment readiness across varied sectors.

Chris brings knowledge and experience across abroad range of funding options specialising in start up and early-stage finance and understands what it takes to make a successful finance application.
