The Business Idea
Erik Eglinton of Lincolnshire based company Arborez, approached NBV in early 2016 for advice on grant funding to secure new equipment. This would nurture his fledgling arboricultural business and take it to the next stage, enabling Erik to tender for larger contracts. Erik was provided with one-to-one support from his NBV business adviser Mike Gibbs, who has helped develop Arborez further.
The Challenges
Dedicated advice from Mike Gibbs has given Erik the skills he lacked to enable his business to grow effectively. Working together, they have looked at areas including grant funding, recruitment, accounts and sales to determine how Erik could sustain his business and generate more revenue in future.
This guidance has given Erik the confidence to manage his future business goals.
“Start & Grow has completely trumped my expectations, largely thanks to the incredibly informative non-biased support and advice Mike Gibbs has given me.”
Programme Impact
Having had countless questions answered, Erik feels secure in his current role and is being proactive to grow his business. He has applied for funding for new equipment. If the outcome is positive, it means Erik can tender for larger contracts, speed up workload production, boost revenue and recruit staff.
Erik is aiming to develop his business significantly with this new equipment, working to hire part-time staff initially before turning these into full-time roles. He also hopes to recruit a member of staff to handle the day-to-day administration.
Future plans include securing a compound to store larger equipment in a central area.
