The business idea

Saima Majid approached NBV in March 2016 for support to help establish her upcoming business in unique luxury, digitally printed cashmere scarves.

Although Saima already had an extensive 13-year career working for major brand names in fashion retail, she needed mentoring support in key areas of business financing and forecasting to take her ideas for her new brand forward.

The Challenges

Thanks to focused and consistent advice from her NBV adviser Kevin Horsnall, Saima has been given the skills to produce a business plan with solid infrastructure – including financial forecasts. She has also been given a variety of ideas and approaches on how to market her unique products, and has found the ongoing reassurance and support from Kevin to be extremely valuable in helping move her business forward.

“At moments where I’ve doubted myself…my NBV mentor has been so supportive of me. I’ve received amazing feedback from high-end retailers too.”

Programme Impact

Saima has attended an expert talk at an NBV Biz Ex event, and has been inspired by the evening and from networking with other delegates and business owners.

Thanks to new ideas and input she has gathered from the support received, Saima is now stocking her scarves in one of the most prestigious boutiques in Derby. She has also received positive feedback from other high-end retailers that she hopes to stock her products with in future.

At this stage Saima can see a profit by year two and her future plans include adding garments to her existing offering as well as placing more emphasis on quality marketing for her products.
